Loving More Update June 25, 2013

HappinessGSSLMLoving More is excited to see the preliminary results of the 2012 Loving More Survey. The survey is the largest polyamory survey to date and is just the beginning of a project aimed at understanding people who practice polyamory, how they are different and how they are the same. The Loving More Team received considerable criticism while conducting the survey because questions were asked in a less than ideal way. The survey was conducted in order to compare the polyamory community to the general population from the the US General Social Survey. Most of the questions were duplicated from the GSS in order to be able to do this direct comparison. We plan to do more including taking many of your suggestions to the next survey and ask questions the polyamory community is interested in.

Loving More would like to express our sincerest thanks and appreciation to everyone who participated in the survey and to the support of the National Coalition for sexual freedom. Special thanks go out to the team of investigators; Jim Fleckenstein, Curtis R Bergstrand, Ph.D. and Derrell W. Cox, II, MA. This team of investigators has dedicated their time and energy to this very important research for our community and we plan to do more in the future.

Upcoming events

2012RetreatGroupIntWe are gearing up for our 27th Annual Loving More Polyamory Retreat in September. This annual, all inclusive, retreat is a celebration of polyamory community and connection and is my personal favorite even of the year. We hold the retreat in upstate New York and a beautiful retreat center, Easton Mountain. We are still in regular registration but prices go up soon.

In addition Poly Living, our annual national conference, is scheduled for February 7-9, 2014 in Philadelphia and this year we will be doing Poly Living West in Denver, CO, April 25-27, 2014. This is the first time we will offer a full blown Conference in the Rocky Mountain region and we are very excited to be working with our local Denver poly group. Registration for both events will be available in the next week or so. We are also looking for presenters for both conferences, if you are interested in being a presenter contact me directly at

Loving More Polyamory Educational Webinars launched in May and we are very excited to be offering this low cost option for people to learn about polyamory. Currently we are offering the Webinars free for everyone. Starting in July the webinars will remain free for Loving More Members but we will charge a fee for the classes for nonmembers.

We are still ironing out a few glitches and finalizing the new website. Jesus is our volunteer webmaster and IT person with a very demanding day job. We hope to have much finalized be the end of summer. We are always looking for writers and article submissions for Loving More’s online magazine.

On a Personal Note

RobynJesus09Many people have asked if we were dealing with fires again this summer and I am happy to say that we are not; though many people in our state are and our hearts go out to them. We had good snow in April and May as well as some rain so things here in Northern Colorado are green. Jesus and I are looking forward to sharing a polyamory commitment ceremony with many of our friends and family in just over a week and we are glad the fires are far to the south. After two years in a row evacuating for fires it is nice not to be worrying so much this year.
